GET TO KNOW YOUR LEADERSHIP
Alice Gallo De Moraes, MD, FCCP
Critical Care Network Vice-Chair
CHEST member since 2011
January 17, 2025
Where do you work?
Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.
What are your research interests?
Liver failure, complications of novel cancer therapies, and advanced mechanical ventilation and resuscitation.
What led you to join your Network?
I love critical care! Being able to care for critically ill patients brings purpose and joy to my life. Being involved with CHEST gives me the opportunity to share my passion for critical care with colleagues from other institutions and countries.
What achievements are you most proud of contributing to within your Network?
I am proud of the work we did during the pandemic: We generated several online educational materials; we held safe spaces for colleagues to share their experiences; and we kept each other sane. In summary, I am most proud of the collegiality and teamwork we have developed in the Critical Care Network.
How has being in a Network benefited your career and your experience as a CHEST member?
It has provided me with multiple opportunities to present at CHEST. It has allowed me to make friends who have become family. It has allowed me to establish research connections and publish with colleagues with common interests.
What are your hobbies?
Running, cooking, reading (always welcoming book recommendations)! I am also on a mission of visiting all the national parks.
What is something you cannot live without (after family and friends)?
Exercise, frequent trips to Disney, and music.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with your Network peers?
A few fun facts about me—I can speak four languages, I am originally from Brasil, and I can play the xylophone.
