A MESSAGE FROM OUR 2024 PRESIDENT AND CEO/EVP

Looking back on 2024, it’s clear that this was a year of remarkable progress for CHEST. Wins came from every corner of our organization, and while we can’t capture them all in one report, this annual review highlights the depth and impact of our collective efforts.

At a time when misinformation continues to cloud public discourse, our commitment to evidence-based medicine has never been more crucial. More than 9,000 of you gathered in Boston for our annual meeting—an incredible testament to the strength of our community. Together, you explored groundbreaking research, shared best practices, and deepened your expertise in pulmonary and critical care medicine.

Beyond the conference, we expanded key initiatives like First 5 Minutes® and Bridging Specialties®, extending their reach beyond the pulmonary field. We introduced essential guidelines to enhance clinical practice, covering topics such as central airway obstruction management and RBC transfusion in critically ill adults. Meanwhile, the CHEST® journal portfolio, including our open-access publications, continued to grow in reach and influence, delivering top-tier, peer-reviewed content to clinicians worldwide.

Advocacy remained at the heart of our work, ensuring that CHEST was a strong voice in addressing critical issues such as health disparities and climate change. We remain steadfast in our belief that science, research, and evidence-based medicine must lead the way in ensuring public health.

Everything we do—every initiative, every publication, every conference—ties back to the core mission: improving patient care and outcomes. No matter how CHEST evolves, that will always be our driving force.

As you explore this year’s highlights, we hope you feel the same excitement and pride that we do. More importantly, we hope it inspires you to stay engaged and energized as we build on this momentum in the years ahead.

Thank you for being part of the CHEST community.
