Educator Awards
CHEST is the home of the clinician educator committed to improving patient outcomes through state-of-the-art education.
Guided by our core values, we celebrate the diversity of the CHEST community and strive for inclusive representation and equitable outcomes in our meeting offerings. To the extent possible, selection priority will be given to outstanding nominations that represent a diversity of lived and learned experience and professional status.
The Education Committee and Educator Development Subcommittee recognize the achievements of early career and master clinicians at CHEST 2025.
Nomination submissions for the following awards must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation (LOR) detailing the specific areas noted below. LORs must be submitted when completing the nomination form.
Self-nominations are welcome. Nominations for candidates who are not selected in a given year will be carried over for up to two successive years, for a total of three years.
Upon the nomination, each nominee will be contacted to submit their curriculum vitae (CV) and educational portfolio. (A template will be provided to each nominee upon notification.)

Educator awards open for nominations
Early Career Clinician Educator
The Early Career Clinician Educator Award recognizes the achievements of a clinician educator within 10 years of practice (post fellowship). The recipient must have already made significant contributions to CHEST activities. The recipient must also demonstrate commitment to medical education through activities in work settings, other volunteer efforts, and consulting work. This award is given to a CHEST member and Fellow (FCCP).
LORs should include a brief statement of interest that highlights the nominee's: (1) key contributions to and activities with CHEST in the realm of educational activities and leadership efforts; (2) key achievements and overall work in the area of medical education, demonstrated in an employment, through consulting, or in a volunteer setting; and (3) future plans, interests, and goals for continuing work in medical education.
Selection Criteria
Each nominee will be considered by the selection committee based upon their LOR and CV and upon the following contributions: participation as a CHEST faculty member/moderator/presenter within and outside CHEST; educational leadership within and outside CHEST; contributor of educational materials within and outside CHEST; and educational research, scholarship, and awards within and outside CHEST.
Master Clinician Educator
The Master Clinician Educator Award recognizes achievements of a clinician educator with at least 20 years of clinical practice (post fellowship). The recipient must have made significant contributions to CHEST activities and been dedicated to medical education throughout their career. Recipients must also demonstrate their commitment through the conduct of educational research or publication of educational outcomes and service in CHEST leadership. This award is given to a CHEST member and Fellow (FCCP).
LORs should include a brief statement of interest that highlights the nominee's: (1) key contributions to and activities with CHEST in the realm of educational activities and committees, work groups, or leadership efforts, and (2) key achievements and overall work in the area of medical education, demonstrated in an employment, through consulting, or in a volunteer setting.
