About the CHEST Health Equity Task Force

In spring 2024, CHEST formed a new task force to surface a more comprehensive and concrete understanding of the areas in which documented and experienced health disparities exist across the landscape of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.

The goals of the Health Equity Task Force are to:

  • Strengthen understanding of how health disparities emerge across pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine in North America
  • Identify key barriers contributing to those disparities and where clinicians and institutions can exercise agency to create change
  • Understand how health disparities shape the practice of medicine (and how the practice of medicine shapes health disparities)
