Course Description

Recent guidelines from GOLD have recommended using serum eosinophil measurements to drive therapeutic decisionmaking. There is a paucity of clinical research that supports routine use of eosinophil measurement in patients with COPD, and it is still unclear if there is a distinct phenotype of eosinophilic COPD and whether serum eosinophils are an ideal or acceptable marker to identify such a phenotype. The optimal approach to therapy in these individuals is a subject of ongoing debate, including use of inhaled and or oral steroids as well as potential use of biologics.

Explore the phenotype of eosinophilic COPD.
Identify approach to measuring and monitoring biomarkers in eosinophilic COPD.
Understand the therapeutic strategy for eosinophilic COPD
