CHEST has brought together experts from pulmonary and primary care medicine to create these educational resources for community pulmonologists, family physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other clinicians who play a role in the improved diagnosis and care of patients with COPD.

The toolkit incorporates educational activities such as:

Course Objectives

  1. Discuss new and emerging research in diagnostic testing, including phenotype, endotype, and stages.
  2. Outline options for new and emerging treatments in the COPD space and how they will impact patient care.
  3. Describe the defining symptoms and patient profiles associated with COPD.
  4. Identify the diagnostic tests that validate a suspicion of COPD and possible stage.
  5. Determine when/if it is appropriate to refer to a pulmonologist.
