The journal CHEST® receives Impact Factor of 11.393*
July 8, 2022
Recently released in the latest Journal Citation Reports, the journal CHEST®, the official publication of the American
College of Chest Physicians® (CHEST), received an increased
journal Impact Factor of 11.393* up from its 2020 score of 9.410. The
journal retained the rank of 6th out of 65 journals in the Respiratory
System category and has the highest readership of any journal in the fields
of critical care and pulmonary.
A proprietary measure owned and issued by Clarivate Analytics, the Impact
Factor is an assessment of a journal’s quality based on the number of
article citations. In the 2021 review period, the journal CHEST
had 656 citable items that were cited 6,732 times.
With an acceptance rate for original research averaging 8%, the journal is
a leading source of peer-reviewed, cutting-edge original research in the
multidisciplinary specialties of chest medicine: pulmonary, critical care
and sleep medicine and related disciplines. It is home to highly regarded
clinical practice guidelines and consensus statements that resonate with a
broad audience of medical professionals. The journal CHEST
continues to hold the highest independent readership scores among the
hospital-based professionals most directly served by the clinical research
published in the journal based on an independent study from a leading
research firm.
“Given the significant amount of content the journal CHEST
published during the ever-evolving COVID-19 pandemic, I am tremendously
proud of our Impact Factor. It is always gratifying to see the hard work of
the authors and the journal team, and the quality of our published content
recognized with a strong Impact Factor,” says Peter J. Mazzone, MD, MPH,
FCCP, Editor in Chief. “This year is especially encouraging as we prepare
to introduce two new journals to our portfolio. Knowing that our standing
among the scientific research community is strong further supports our plan
to expand the CHEST journal portfolio with open access journals
focusing on critical care and pulmonary medicine.”
Set to launch in early 2023, the new journals, CHEST Pulmonary and CHEST Critical Care, will contain specialized research in the
fields of pulmonary, sleep and critical care medicine and will only include
content that is open access to all readers.
Similar to the journal CHEST, CHEST Pulmonary and CHEST Critical Care will accept submissions of original research,
reviews, and case reports, with enhanced emphasis on medical
decision-making, implementation science, health services delivery, quality
improvement, cost-effectiveness analysis, policy reports, study design and
more.
The portfolio will continue to offer complementary web and multimedia
activities, including visual abstracts, podcasts, animations and other videos,
including webinars to expand the reach of its most interesting, timely and
relevant research.
