CHEST transitions hybrid meeting to fully online

Glenview, Illinois – The American College of Chest Physicians® (CHEST) announced today that CHEST 2021, the annual meeting taking place October 17-20, will be fully online again this year. This decision was made after an extensive review of the present and potential conditions that currently affect in-person participation.

“Our goal is to make attending CHEST 2021 as accessible as possible for our members,” says CHEST President Steven Q. Simpson, MD, FCCP. “While I was looking forward to being together in person again, I am equally looking forward to connecting online. From the outset of planning, the CHEST team has been keenly aware of the need for flexibility and deeply in tune to the needs of our membership in putting together the program that we expect to be an exceptional learning experience.”

CHEST 2021 was planned as a hybrid event from the start, offering attendees in-person, online and on-demand content. Given the meeting’s hybrid plan, the top-tier educational content provided at the CHEST annual meeting will be minimally affected by the pivot. Leading experts in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine will host sessions covering mental health, COVID-19, racial disparities in health care and more topics important to clinicians. Sessions taking place during CHEST 2021 include, among many others:

  • Understanding and Addressing Implicit Bias
  • Don’t Waste a Crisis: Applying Disruptive Innovation in Medical Education Gained Through COVID-19
  • The New Wave of Burnout: Impact and Interventions
  • Critical Care in Global Health: From Ebola to COVID-19 and Beyond
  • Watch or Intervene? Management of Slow-Growing Subsolid Lung Nodules

While these issues are currently at the forefront, chest medicine must continue to meet the daily needs of those living with lung disease. CHEST 2021 will cover the latest research in asthma, sleep disorders, COPD and more, including the sessions below:

  • New Focused Updates in Asthma Management Guidelines (EPR-4): Data Analysis and Justifications
  • Mastering Noninvasive Ventilation in the Hospital, From ICU to Discharge
  • Inhaled Medications in COPD: Contemporary Strategies to Manage an Old Disease

All CHEST 2021 registered as in-person attendees automatically have access to the online platform as part of their package. This includes an additional 3 months of on demand access for all content.
