The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) was recently updated, to better meet the needs of patients, with a focus on COPD diagnostic and to identify treatable traits (symptoms and exacerbations) to help guide therapy. Part one will focus on exacerbations.
This case-based two part webinar series is for the community-based pulmonologists and other health-providers seeing COPD patients to help recognize the importance of symptom-based burdens of COPD as a guide to pharmacological choices, that can also help optimize bronchodilation therapy and reduce exacerbations.
To further your knowledge, be sure to listen to the podcast Impacts of Patients Underreporting COPD Exacerbations.
Objectives
- Discuss how physicians may assess the patient’s symptom level from COPD Assessment Test (CAT), Modified Medical Research Council Dyspnea Scale (mMRC) as well as exacerbations.
- Recognize the importance of the use of spirometry, and Forced Expiratory Volume (FEV1) as a tool in the management of COPD.
