Do you care for critically ill patients? Treat sepsis or hypotension? Support respiratory failures or other organ failures? Provide postoperative care in a surgical ICU? Rapidly respond to emergencies on inpatient floors in your hospital? You probably provide critical care services in some of these situations. Learn how to properly document and bill for your critical care professional services from two physician experts—one in private practice and the other in academic practice. You also will learn about other procedural services you might provide in these clinical settings.

This CD-ROM will help provide you with:

  • The definition of a critically ill or injured patient
  • How much time you should spend and how to document that critical care time
  • Which services performed (eg, bronchoscopy, arterial lines, central venous catheters) can be separately documented and billed
  • Which elements of a patient’s history and physical examination should be documented
  • Where critical care can be provided
  • An example of a template chart note
  • Key requirements for a great critical care note

In addition, hear a live question and answer session between faculty and participants referencing common critical care coding and documentation scenarios in their everyday practices.

Who should view this CD-ROM?

  • Private practice physicians
  • Nonphysician providers
    • Physician assistants
    • Nurse practitioners
