Telemedicine Focus

Attend sessions and exhibits to learn how you can use telemedicine in your own practice. Hear how this conduit for educational, diagnostic, and therapeutic information exchange, proven to enhance patient compliance and reduce health-care costs, can help you improve your patient care and practice management techniques.

Don’t miss the related keynote address on Monday, November 2. Jay H. Sanders, MD, President and CEO of The Global Telemedicine Group, will present “Where We Are and Where We Need To Be,” an analysis of how telecommunication and information technologies used by other service industries can dramatically improve the process and outcome of health-care delivery for both the patient and practitioner.

ACCP Simulation Center

Enhance your cognitive, technical, and behavioral skills in a hands-on clinical environment. The ACCP Simulation Center will feature a variety of exercises, so you can actively practice your skills and apply your knowledge in realistic scenarios. Simulation exercises will be conducted in areas related to airway management, bronchoscopy, critical care, eICU, polysomnography, pulmonary function testing, and ultrasonography.

Open forum times will offer hands-on time with the equipment and faculty, so you can experience the value of simulation learning. Scheduled sessions, open only to those who preregister, will offer an intensive learning opportunity to help you practice your skills and identify your clinical strengths and needs.

ACCP Exhibit and Education Center

Learn about treatments and devices that can improve patient care and outcomes. The all-new exhibit hall will serve as an education center, where industry representatives expand on session topics by presenting the latest diagnostic and treatment solutions. Meet with representatives, away from the pressures of your daily practice, to explore the latest innovations in clinical chest medicine. Also, visit the Health Information Technology Pavilion to learn the full potential of health-care technology systems and how you can use technology to enhance your patient care.

The ACCP Exhibit and Education Center hours have been expanded to give you more opportunity to meet with industry representatives. Unopposed times are offered each day, so you don’t have to miss important sessions. Also, enjoy free lunch, served each day from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm. Real cases will be used to focus on issues related to private practice. International cases also will be presented, promising to broaden the spectrum of diseases presented.

Problem-Based Learning Sessions

Participate in small group exercises to solve cases and discuss solutions with the larger group and multidisciplinary moderators. Cases will be based on ACCP evidence-based guidelines to promote and reinforce standards of care. This learning method will allow you to learn from the experiences of other clinicians through group input.

Original Investigations

Get first exposure to unpublished science and breaking news from the original investigations, presented in slide, poster, or electronic poster formats. Grand round poster presentations will be offered during unopposed viewing times, so you can meet personally with researchers. A new electronic poster format will be featured, so you can benefit from more engaging presentations through the use of technology.
