CHEST 2008 Program Highlights

Education. Experience. Expertise.
Recognized around the world as the authority in clinical chest medicine, CHEST 2008 is the one event that can deliver:

  • Education. Clinical updates in chest medicine will be offered in a variety of learning formats at more than 150 education sessions.
  • Experience. Committed to all aspects of your professional growth, CHEST 2008 will feature diverse participation opportunities in activities that can give you experiences to help advance your career.
  • Expertise. An internationally renowned faculty will be readily available and willing to discuss areas of concern related to your practice.

Program Enhancements

  • Hear master clinicians, pathologists, and radiologists present diagnostic strategies for pulmonary conditions during the all new ACCP Clinical Case Puzzlers. Panels of experts will present the common radiographic patterns seen on CT scans and discuss the relevant factors that can be used for making accurate diagnoses. Don’t miss on-the-spot discussion, designed to deliver information you can easily integrate into your own practice.
  • Use the new digital distribution of the original investigation abstracts and case reports to your advantage. Preview the studies online and plan which sessions you’d like to attend. After CHEST 2008, the studies will remain online for reference. As an attendee, you will receive the abstracts on CD. This digital distribution gives you more flexibility in how and when you can view the studies. This paperless initiative assists the ACCP in its “going green” efforts.
  • Receive a free summary CD of valuable information presented during CHEST 2008. The CD content will be more comprehensive than ever before, featuring annotated bibliographies, bulleted summaries from select sessions—including literature reviews and honor lectures, and the abstracts from the award semifinalists—and highlights from the popular “Make Your Diagnosis With the Master Clinicians and Radiologists” sessions.

More of What You Like

  • Sixteen literature review sessions will offer more opportunity to review recently published science. Hear leading authorities, including editors and associate editors from select journals, present the significant and outstanding studies from the past year.
  • Two unopposed poster grand round presentations will double the time available to view original science and meet with the researchers.
  • Additional learning opportunities in the ACCP Self-study Library will feature programs to complement your learning and earn additional CME credit.

Back by Demand

  • Attend popular CHEST sessions, featuring clinical updates in chest medicine: board review programs, literature reviews, postgraduate courses, and more than 175 sessions.
  • Experience hands-on education in the ACCP Simulation Center. Practice the cognitive, technical, and behavioral skills you need to provide optimal patient care across a variety of situations.
  • Visit the large exhibit hall, showcasing products, technology advances, and information delivery systems relevant to your profession.
  • Select sessions will be available for purchase as electronic audio files. Download sessions of your choice, so you can easily review and reference material after the meeting. NEW for CHEST 2008, audio presales of sessions will be offered at a discount.

Meet Our CHEST 2008 Partners

American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology
AABIP, founded in 1993, is an interdisciplinary society dedicated to bronchoscopy and interventional pulmonology. The society’s diverse membership includes trainees, as well as pulmonologists, chest surgeons, otorhinolaryngologists, and pediatricians with interests in chest diseases. The main focus is airway disorders and pleural diseases. Members come from a variety of backgrounds and academic disciplines. Many are, or have been, involved in the development and expansion of procedural activities at some point during their careers. In addition to a 1-day yearly scientific meeting held at CHEST, members of the AABIP meet for 3 exciting days with colleagues from around the world during the World Congress of Bronchology. The official journal of the AABIP is the Journal of Bronchology. To learn more about the AABIP, please visit the Web site at www.aabronchology.org, or contact the society at (216) 444-0233 or info@aabronchology.org.

Canadian Thoracic Society
The CTS is the medical section of the Canadian Lung Association. The CTS promotes lung health by supporting the respiratory community through leadership, collaboration, research, learning, and advocacy and by promoting the best respiratory practices in Canada. • Developing, publishing, and disseminating clinical management guidelines in fields such as asthma, COPD, home ventilation, sleep apnea, and home ventilation.
  • Developing, delivering, and certifying education programs and conferences for respirologists and other physicians and health-care professionals.
  • Hosting the annual Canadian Respiratory Conference in collaboration with partners.
  • Publishing the Canadian Respiratory Journal.
  • Supporting both basic and clinical research.
  • Coordinating a national respirology certification examination preparation course and a national research competition.
  • Collaborating with national and international partners and other health-care professionals.
  • Advocating for improved lung health and collaborating on the development of the National Lung Health Framework.

To learn more about the CTS and how you can help make a difference, contact the society at (613) 569-6411, extension 270, or at ctsinfo@lung.ca. Learn more at www.lung.ca/cts.
