caseReportsAbstract Presentation Guidelines

The ACCP and the Scientific Presentations and Awards Committee will determine the format of accepted abstracts: slide session, thematic printed poster, or electronic poster. All decisions are final. Accepted abstracts will also be published, ONLINE ONLY, in CHEST Online. Abstracts will be posted prior to CHEST 2009. Abstracts will be posted exactly as submitted, but tables and figures will not be used.

Presenters should consider the following guidelines:

  1. Commercial logos are prohibited from appearing on poster or slide presentations.
  2. Authors scheduled for printed poster presentations will be assigned poster space during the poster grand rounds time and will be expected to display illustrative materials (eg, graphs, charts). If an author or coauthor does not present, he or she may be excluded from presenting at future meetings.
  3. Authors scheduled for slide presentations will have 10 minutes to present and discuss their abstract and 5 minutes for questions and answers. Slide presentations will be in PowerPoint. If an author or coauthor does not present, he or she may be excluded from presenting at future meetings.
  4. Expenses associated with the preparation, submission, and presentation of abstracts are the responsibility of the author or presenter. If accepted, the presenter is required to pay all fees associated with the meeting, including, but not limited to, travel, housing accommodations, meeting registration, etc.
  5. Changes to accepted abstracts will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Changes must be submitted in writing and must include the abstract title, author, presentation type, presentation category, and presentation day and time.

Abstracts will be evaluated individually on scientific merit and originality. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be made electronically to the presenting author after July 10, 2009. If you have not been notified by July 20, 2009, contact the ACCP.

The last day to edit or withdraw an accepted abstract is August 3, 2009. To withdraw an accepted abstract, e-mail Robb Rabito. Include your abstract control number.
